What might the future look like?
We help local authorities, community groups, landowners and private individuals to understand the real visual impact of wind and solar energy projects.
Visualisations, simulations & engagement
Understand the real visual impact of a wind or solar project on its surrounding environment
View a project from any angle, in photo-realistic images or in a 3D world
See the movement of blades, changes in wind direction and speed - at any time of day or night
Compare different project configurations and options using accurate, real-time images.
Thanks to cutting-edge software developed by Windplanner, we can create an accurate impression of what a renewable energy project really looks like. This tool allows us to move around a landscape to show wind turbines or solar farms at their correct size and from different angles and distances. More importantly, we can show the effect of blade movement - a critical factor in the visibility of wind turbines - as well as variables such as wind direction and speed, time of day (or night) and shadow direction.

Photomontages

Using images from Google StreetView, we can provide fast, accurate photomontages that don't incur the costs of commissioning specialist on-site photography.

Videomontages

The movement of turbine blades is a critical part of the visual experience of a wind energy project. This movement can only be illustrated by video simulations.

2D & 3D simulations

Our 2D and 3D simulations using ‘virtual worlds’ are useful when it comes to identifying important, but less obvious, viewpoints where visual impact could be an issue.

Protecting our heritage

Working with heritage protection associations is one of our specialities. In recent years, we have been involved with more than a dozen major heritage sites in Burgundy, including the Abbey de La Bussière, Henri Vincenot's house, Château d'Ancy-le-Franc and La Grande Forge de Buffon. Our photomontages have also been used in public enquiries and legal proceedings.

Transparent communication

Understanding the visual impact of a project from the outset is essential for dialogue with key stakeholders. Whether you are a community group looking to inform local people, a developer looking to improve community relations or a local council looking for a potential location for solar panels, Windplanner offers a range of flexible solutions.
Visualising the future with accurate 3D modelling
By using a high-resolution digital surface model (DSM), we can accurately show the impact of a development from almost any angle and at any location without the need to create photomontages.
